MAGH promotes international academic cooperation and mobility to foster the exchange of learning and teaching best practices.
It offers support for mobility activities for teachers and students of Medical Courses and Specialization Schools in collaboration with other universities, hospitals and NGOs, provides placement opportunities in low resource contexts.
Medical students
1-month internships in Africa
1-month internships in collaboration with SISM and Doctors with Africa CUAMM in hospitals in Wolisso (Ethiopia) and Tosamaganga (Tanzania), through the “Wolisso project“.
Project aims at providing students with first hand experience in international health cooperation and allowing them to develop a critical sense of the fundamental right to health through direct learning experiences and work placements.
Entry requirements
The internship programme is open to V and VI year students and recent graduates from the faculty of medicine (within 12 months of graduation), who are members of SISM.
Medical Postgraduate school students
Objectives
UNIMI postgraduates have the opportunity to gain experience in clinical activities, but also in collaboration and research (e.g. speciality theses, scientific publications resulting from them, etc.) in various African hospitals. In all locations they are supported by local doctor-mentors.
CUAMM – JPO
The ‘Junior Project Officer’ programme offers the opportunity to trainees who intend to prepare for a future commitment to international health cooperation to gain experience in Africa recognised in their career as young doctors. The project, which includes pre-departure training activities, is aimed in particular at residents of Surgery, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Hygiene and Preventive Medicine, Infectious and Tropical Diseases, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics.
Fondazione Corti – Lacor Hospital
UNIMI residents have the opportunity to carry out 5/6 month internship periods at Lacor Hospital, Uganda. The experience in a resource-limited context like Lacor is an element that deeply enriches the training of doctors, nurses and midwives from a human and professional point of view.
The specialisations mainly involved are: paediatrics, gynaecology, internal medicine, infectious diseases, radiology, hygiene, emergency medicine, anaesthesia, but also other areas.
Dr. Ambrosoli Memorial Hospital
UNIMI orthopaedics, gynaecology, hygiene, anaesthesia, internal medicine, and paediatrics residents can do 5/6 month internships at Dr. Ambrosoli Memorial Hospital, Kalongo, Uganda.
